A visual story that works for you
An artist’s identity goes far beyond just music. For the French musician HAMO, I created a portrait photoshoot where every frame reveals his character, culture, and uniqueness. A distinct visual image is an essential part of a modern artist’s personal brand.
Objective:
To create a series of portraits for the French traditional music performer HAMO. Originally from Kurdistan, he sings and accompanies himself on the traditional Kurdish instrument, the saz. The artist requested a series of photographic portraits for media, album covers, social networks, and magazine publication. It was important to highlight his authenticity, cultural roots, and the depth of his creative approach.
Solution:
• A thematic photoshoot in authentic Parisian locations enhanced the artist’s charismatic image and added depth to the series.
• At the heart of the story is the traditional Kurdish saz, with which HAMO is associated not only as a musician but also as a representative of his people.
• His Eastern identity was highlighted through rich colors, expressive lighting, and textures echoing Eastern culture. Every element of the shoot emphasized the artist’s individuality.
• The focus on raw emotions and natural delivery helped build trust and increase recognition.
• The final touch was a set of intimate shots in a Parisian café, adding warmth and a sense of completion to the visual story.
Result:
The final visual material formed the basis of HAMO’s updated style, was featured in the international magazine ARTELLS, and is being used for social media and posters.
The final touch — a café atmosphere
For the final part of the shoot, I chose a nearby café — this brought a sense of coziness to the shots. The space, with its soft light, shadows, and expressive textures, highlighted HAMO’s warmth and gentleness. The café became the perfect backdrop for the finale of this series.
